Medusa - Just a Glance by Turning2stone Medusa - Just a Glance by Turning2stone
"you couldn't run, you couldn't attack, your body was already turning to stone and there was nothing you could do to stop it.  One glance was all it took.  Terrifying."  I always loved this description which came from an episode of the Sarah Jane Mysteries - a Dr Who spin off in the UK.  I wanted to try to capture that moment and Laetitia's expression in this picture really suggested it.... hope you like it

I used the following stock in this picture  Misc stock pack by Blossom-Lullabies from the beautiful, talented and all-round amazing Laetitia Van Der Kelen better known on DA as blossom-lullabies.deviantart.c… and my background is  Backdrop6 (20) by pureshack by pureshack.deviantart.com/  the rest is created with a bunch of my own stocks.

Thank you. I'm glad you like it. I suppose the intention was to make it dramatic and a little scary...if you are thinking .."how would that feel?" I guess the picture had the impact I intended.... Thanks as always for your support.

Terrific piece of artwork, and I agree it's incredible having one eye already stone with the petrification working its way out. The background statue adds to the story.

Interesting, a petrification effect in its beginning. The eye is especially good. Great work :)
The statue in the background is in another of your works?

Yeah, I remember a some animes with petrification and mannequization begining in the eyes, it's a classic idea :) I don't know if this proverb exist in englis, but in spanish is said "the eyes are the mirror of the soul" (aproximate translation). This is a nice concept for this type of petrification :)
I would like see the background statue. Do you have it here, in DA?

Looks good!

Though I'd probably tone down the shadow in the back a bit; one that strong and that tall would indicate a supremely strong light source behind the...er, antagonist, that isn't presently reflected on the wall.

Also, the other statue in the background could use a bit more bokeh since the blur around her figure seems to abruptly "end" after a point.

thanks for the tips - there's always room for improvement which is what makes photoshop sculpture so challenging :)

I absolutely love this, the shock in her right eye while the other one has already turned into a grey marble with the rest of her body following it soon.
